Hello!
Here at last is the blog I promised I would start before heading off on my travels this semester. I meant to set it up earlier, but I couldn't think of a good name/title for it- so thanks Conor for helping jog my mind for something I liked (the title is a bit of one of my favorite poems- Well Water by Randell Jarrell- you can check it out to the left). I hope that I'll be able to show you a bit of what my daily life is like while I'm in South Africa.
On Monday I will be setting out for Europe. I'll be hitting Paris, Rome, and Athens with a few friends on our way to Port Elizabeth, South Africa. We end up in Port Elizabeth (PE) on February 1st, just in time for the beginning of our orientation week, which begins Monday Feb. 2nd. I have begun packing (or at least gathering all the things that I need to bring and picking out the clothes I'm bringing), but the last bit of that will probably be saved for Sunday afternoon/evening.
I hope to post once a week or so on this, so we'll see how that goes. I'm not sure what internet access will be like throughout my Europe travels, so this blog mightn't get updated for a while during that.
Please keep in touch- I'd love to hear from all of you about your daily lives! If you send me an e-mail (or letter!), I will do my best to respond.
Bye for now!

Yay! I'm so glad you are going to keep us all up-to-date on your adventures. Internet cafes are everywhere in Europe so you shouldn't have any excuses. Have a safe journey and I'll see you when you get back home!
ReplyDeleteHello Katie- thanks for some great lunch time reading. I don't come across poetry very often, but whe I do- I always appreciate the time someone to be beautiful with words. Hope that you're already enjoying your travels!
